KARHU POLAR NIGHT PACK RELEASE

September is here and KARHU is busy preparing for the Autumn Equinox with the release of the all-new Polar Night pack. Inspiration for this assortment comes from regions in the far north where autumn signifies the beginning of a six-month period during which the sun never rises.  

It is in these areas closest to the North Pole where the nights are darkest and last the longest. When the sun doesn’t shine for weeks on end, it becomes incredibly easy to lose track of time and place. Inhabitants of these northern regions engage in a variety of communal activities to maintain a firm grasp on reality and avoid “polar madness”. The care and attention given to seeking the light in a season of darkness brings these communities closer together and makes the incoming season of the Midnight Sun that much sweeter. The photoshoot for the Polar Night pack was conducted by Justine Leenarts and creative director, Lisa Anne Stuyfzand. Their creation seamlessly combines product-specific imagery with unique mood photography to evoke an impending sense of sanity-stressing polar madness.   

OVER KARHU 

Karhu is opgericht in 1916 door het bedrijf: Ab Sport Artiklar die het Beer logo voerde. In 1920 besloot het bedrijf Ab Sport Artiklar om verder te gaan onder de naam Karhu, het bedrijf maakte al producten voor de Atletiek waaronder Speren en Discussen en daar kwamen nu dan ook de Hardloop en Spike schoenen bij. Karhu werd destijds Finlands officiele Olympische Partner Supllier. Paavo Nurmi behaald voor Finland 9 Gouden Medailles in slechts Negen jaar. In 1930 breiden de producten van Karhu's zich steeds verder uit naar andere sporten waaronder: Cross-Country Skiën en Skipringen. Tijdens de oorlog tussen 1939 - 1945 maakte Karhu ook nog voor het miltaire leger tenten, ski's en camouflage pakken.

Het opmerkelijke gebeurde dat Karhu in 1951 het door hen geregistreerde (Adidas) Three Stripes Logo aan het toen nog kleine Adidas verkocht werd voor 1600,- euro en 2 flessen Wiskey. Na een lange geschiedenis en verandering in de jaren 80 en 90 is het merk nu weer terug van weggeweest. met iconische sneakers als de Albatross, The Tramprass, Fulcrum, Fusion 2.0 en de Legacy 96.
