Mizuno Contender Pristine Four Leaf Clover. The Contender is an archive silhouette that was originally released in 1995, with design ideas from Mizuno's founder Rhiachi Mizuno. This was a lightweight style that was characterized by stability and support, made for beginning runners who were looking for a shoe with good cushioning that was suitable for both on- and off-road running.

For the upper, the original Contender combined mesh with suede reinforcements for a durable construction while maintaining maximum comfort. The midsole consists of single-density EVA foam with Mizuno's Transpower technology in the heel, a highly responsive foam insert that also offers shock absorption and extra cushioning. For the outsole, a new, one-piece solid rubber has been used with forefoot flex grooves for a smoother transition from heel to toe.
